of Great Britain, during his consecration
at the St. Mark's Church, Beckton, London

ECCLESIASTICAL
ACCREDITATION & SUPPORT
The
Primate of the Apostolic Congress of Great Britain
and a team of officials from the UK consecrated
Rev. Regina Ama Konadu, Director of The Apostolic
Centre of St. Maximus The Theologian (Ghana),
as Bishop of the Apostolic Congress. She will
hold responsibility for the governance of the
Ghana diocese of the Congress, in addition to
any other responsibilities that may be passed
from the Primate to her Office.
The
event took place on 24th October 2007 at the
Hall of the Institute for Local Government Studies,
East Legon, Accra, Ghana. The venue was purposefully
chosen to relate the event to the emerging challenges
facing Episcopal offices in many African countries,
as well as the clergy roots of the new bishop.

The
Rev. Regina Ama Konadu
|
|
The
Rev. Konadu studied at the Abuakwa State College
in the Eastern Region of Ghana. She proceeded
from here to train for three years as a state
registered nurse at the Nurses Training College
at Cape Coast in Ghana. She served as a state-registered
nurse in Ghana for over 10 years. Within the
period, she served as a nurse at the Ghana Parliament
House where she was exposed to country-governance
challenges. In 1996, she proceeded to serve
the Churches in Ghana for another 10 years.
She served in various capacities, including
co-pastoring congregations as an ordained Church
minister. Her status as an ordained minister
was confirmed in the Ghana Government Gazette
No. 23, published in April 2006.
|
Between
October 2006 and January 2007, Rev Konadu undertook
life research studies at the Centre for Narrative
Research at the University of East London to enhance
her ministry. She was awarded the Post-Graduate Associate
Certificate in Narrative Research by the University
as at February 2007.
The
Consecration of Rev. Konadu as a Bishop of the Apostolic
Congress of Great Britain will happen in Ghana in
October 2007, to coincide with the Knowledge and Ghana's
Development month which has been set up by the Government
of Ghana within the country's Independence Jubilee
celebration (the first independence jubilee celebration
in Africa, south of the Sahara).
The
event will also mark the official opening of the Maximilian
International University College in Ghana, of which
Rev. Konadu currently serves as Co-Executive. The
event will again mark the official opening of our
collaborative post-graduate programmes - including
the Continuing Professional Development credits as
well as the substantive MA and MPhil/PhD in Professional
Practice, organised in collaboration with the Institute
for Professional Excellence at the Oxford Centre for
Mission Studies.

The Reverend Henry
Okoampa Agyemang (1927-2001)
|
|
The
Rev. Konadu is a daughter of The Reverend Henry
Okoampa Agyemang (1927-2001) who served primarily
through the Presbyterian Church of Ghana - a
Church birthed from the work of Basel Missions
in Switzerland, Germany and Jamaica and later
linked to the Scottish Mission in Scotland.
The Rev. Agyemang served as a headteacher, catechist,
national youth minister, district presbytery
chair, senior church minister, member of the
synod, and constitutional local council chair.
These faithful services of Rev. Agyemang do
awaken in his daughter (Rev. Konadu) serious
attention to critical features of Church ministry
such as training and education, leadership development,
governance, spiritual renewal, and socio-political
change. The consecration of Rev. Konadu obviously
serves as an honour to her father's dedication
to God's work.
|
The
consecration is also an expression of dad-daughter
continuing faithful-service in God's eternal Kingdom.
That leads to a new light on the issue of Apostolic
Succession particularly at the meeting points between
the Christian missionary movements from the West and
African "apostolic" Christianity - and what
that means in local and international setting of God's
Church today.
With
these undertakings, Rev. Konadu will hold key responsibilities
for the growth and administration of the Apostolic
Congress.
