The Authority of
The Apostolic Congress of Great Britain
The
Office of the Primate of the Apostolic
Congress of Great Britain has appointed
The Rev. Regina Ama Konadu, Director of
The Apostolic Centre of St. Maximus The
Theologian (Ghana), as the Bishop-Elect
for Ghana. She will hold responsibility
for the governance of the Ghana diocese
of the Congress, in addition to any other
responsibilities that may be passed to
her Office
 |
|
The
Rev. Regina Ama Konadu
|
|
The
Rev. Konadu studied at the Abuakwa
State College in the Eastern Region
of Ghana. She proceeded from here
to train for three years as a state
registered nurse at the Nurses Training
College at Cape Coast in Ghana.
She served as a state-registered
nurse in Ghana for over 10 years.
Within the period, she served as
a nurse at the Ghana Parliament
House where she was exposed to country-governance
challenges. In 1996, she proceeded
to serve the Churches in Ghana for
another 10 years. She served in
various capacities, including co-pastoring
congregations as an ordained Church
minister. Her status as an ordained
minister was confirmed in the Ghana
Government Gazette No. 23, published
in April 2006.
|
Between
October 2006 and January 2007, Rev Konadu
undertook life research studies at the
Centre for Narrative Research at the University
of East London to enhance her ministry.
She was awarded the Post-Graduate Associate
Certificate in Narrative Research by the
University as at February 2007.
The
Consecration of Rev. Konadu as a Bishop
of the Apostolic Congress of Great Britain
will happen in Ghana in October 2007,
to coincide with the Knowledge and Ghana's
Development month which has been set up
by the Government of Ghana within the
country's Independence Jubilee celebration
(the first independence jubilee celebration
in Africa, south of the Sahara). The event
will also mark the official opening of
the Maximilian International University
College in Ghana, of which Rev. Konadu
currently serves as Co-Executive. The
event will again mark the official opening
of our collaborative post-graduate programmes
- including the Continuing Professional
Development credits as well as the substantive
MA and MPhil/PhD in Professional Practice,
organised in collaboration with the Institute
for Professional Excellence at the Oxford
Centre for Mission Studies.
 |
|
The Reverend
Henry Okoampa Agyemang (1927-2001)
|
|
The
Rev. Konadu is a daughter of The
Reverend Henry Okoampa Agyemang
(1927-2001) who served primarily
through the Presbyterian Church
of Ghana - a Church birthed from
the work of Basel Missions in Switzerland,
Germany and Jamaica and later linked
to the Scottish Mission in Scotland.
The Rev. Agyemang served as a headteacher,
catechist, national youth minister,
district presbytery chair, senior
church minister, member of the synod,
and constitutional local council
chair. These faithful services of
Rev. Agyemang do awaken in his daughter
(Rev. Konadu) serious attention
to critical features of Church ministry
such as training and education,
leadership development, governance,
spiritual renewal, and socio-political
change. The consecration of Rev.
Konadu obviously serves as an honour
to her father's dedication to God's
work.
|
The
consecration is also an expression of
dad-daughter continuing faithful-service
in God's eternal Kingdom. That leads to
a new light on the issue of Apostolic
Succession particularly at the meeting
points between the Christian missionary
movements from the West and African "apostolic"
Christianity - and what that means in
local and international setting of God's
Church today.
With
these undertakings, Rev. Konadu will hold
key responsibilities for the growth and
administration of the Apostolic Congress.

The
Landscape
|
 |
| |
|
|
The
world we live in is fast urbanising;
and the population of each city is
fast becoming multi-national and global.
Formerly, the cities lived in the
nations. Now the nations live in the
cities.
To
think local, is also to think both
multi-national and global.
In
a multi-national and market-driven
environment, poverty is often seen
as a sub-culture, but not necessary
an issue of injustice.
|
|
Under this position, poverty reduction schemes
are designed primarily to deal with the
causalities of the market, and not necessarily
to promote a common economic development
foundation for everyone.
Programmes
for sustainable development and capital
growth that also aim at poverty alleviation/reduction
in particular contexts may have to consider
seriously these considerations. We live
in both modern and post-modern world, and
we work in a world that is both local and
multi-national. The environment also is
largely market-driven.
These
underpin the tasks and the depths of our
Consultations.
In general, our Consultations will be
- identifying
practical tools for sustainable development,
which are efficient within cultures
but also meet current market realities
- challenging
ground-level practitioners from the
Faith, Education, and
Development sectors to achieve
sustainable development programmes in
market-driven situations.

The Processes and Schedule for the London
Spiritual Retreat & Experience
[A]
This exercise begins as a reflective-activity on one's
own dreams and calling. It proceeds to a formidable
self-discovery of Christ in a new way. From here, a
participant is expected to lay a positive hold on the
higher calling of God in Christ Jesus - and experience
a personal refreshing for an effective ministry.
[B]
A report of the experience indicating a future pathway
into a higher calling will be expected from participants
on their return.
[C]
For purposes of self-examination, each participant will
work on his/her future pathway with convincing references
to the Incarnate Christ, He/She will also produce a
spiritual check-list or an evaluation outline.
[D]
Two study areas will support the experience: (a) Mediterranean
Christological Images (b) The Christ Glorifies and the
Church today. Guiding notes will be given to all participants.
Further assistance will be given to those who make specific
requests on a specific subject.
Reason for this Spiritual Exercise:
The
Exercise exists to support individuals to foot their
personal visions or aspirations with regards to God's
High Calling on the person - through the Incarnate and
Glorified Christ. A participant may also
use the exercise to strengthen his/her spiritual competencies.
In
the last 20 years, Churches have majored on personal
salvation, faith-based victorious life, holistic ministry,
and finally to community impact. The Spirit of Christ
is pointing to the need for personal refreshing in order
to stay effective.
Without
question, the global fullness of Christ is yet to be
experienced. For some, this is the higher calling!!
London
has become a centre of the three major Faiths that claim
the heritage of Abraham. God called Abraham at a point
in his life to a cosmic experience of Christ. God's
higher calling in Christ as well
as the blessedness of nations were set on that specific
heritage.
London
has been one of the spiritually rich environments in
Europe. St Paul is London's patron saint.
St Paul always sought to discover the cosmic image of
the Incarnate and Glorified Christ in the city.
This spiritual refreshing exercise is dedicated to St.
Paul.

Special
meeting at
Shiloh United Apostolic Church of Christ
Worldwide, Lawrence Road (rear of Library),
South Norwood, London SE25
Saturday 12 June 2004
11am Reception; Meeting 12 noon - 2pm
Precious
Greetings in Jesus Mighty Name!
 |
|
Most Revd. Dr. Malachi
Ramsay
|
|
This
special meeting is about the need to discuss
the relevance of Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay's calling/ministry to the Churches
we run or the reference/authority of the ministerial
credentials we hold individually. Before I address
the subject, kindly permit me to start with
one general matter, because it will show why
the above meeting has been arranged in a particular
manner.
|
[A]
General Matters : A Way Forward
The
Apostolic Congress of Great Britain consists of congregations
who are autonomous (self-governing). At Church leadership
and professional levels, the Congress consists of persons
who have identified their respective God-given visions.
This brings beauty and strength, and real challenges
and tasks, to the running of the Congress but also the
realities of frequent time pressures.
For
the Congress' meetings to produce concrete outcomes
in 2004 and beyond, it will be necessary that meetings
focus on specific matters of interest to its members.
To work in this direction, it will also be necessary
that members express the matters that are important
to them - and their thoughts on those matters - in a
formal manner. It will be helpful if those matters and
concerns are written out and submitted to this Office
or to any of our bishops in advance. This will help
us to think through properly and prayerfully and also
ensure that the concern is placed on the agenda of a
Congress meeting. In this manner, the agenda of Congress
meetings will be properly built on those matters that
are important to members. The date for a particular
meeting can be tailored to ensure the attendance of
those particular members whose concerns are going to
be addressed. Congress meetings will then become more
meaningful and more fruitful, with divine counsel/guidance
and comfort beautifully evident.
[B]
Special June 2004 Congress Meeting
The
agenda of this meeting is of particular interest to
those ministers and Churches whose ordination, ministerial
reference, ministry-direction, or leadership was initiated
or birthed through Archbishop Malachi Ramsay. However
the subject is of interest to Church work in the UK
generally. Archbishop Ramsay has lost so much of his
earthly memory, that there is the need to discuss the
relevance of his calling/ministry to the Churches that
we run or the ministerial authority we work from.
One
matter that we need to address is the issue of Apostolic
Order or Apostolic Succession. As God restores order
in today's world, Church ministers will also have to
know/affirm where their ministerial, ecclesiastical
authority originates and historically continues from.
It will be helpful if we can find sufficient records
establishing Archbishop Malachi Ramsay's ecclesiastical
authority - in terms of where it was originated and
connects from. This is an important house-clearance
exercise to do.
As
Church ministers, we all need to be clear of the source
of the authority of the license or ordination we hold
- and its historic continuity. This will be a rich learning
experience for ourselves, and also an asset to our Churches.
Please
note that we are holding this particular meeting at
Shiloh United Apostolic Church of Christ Worldwide,
Lawrence Road (behind the Library), South Norwood, SE25
in honour of Archbishop Malachi Ramsay.
[C]
Honouring God and the Ministry of Archbishop Ramsay
There
is a need to plan and organise a fitting event to honour
God for the life of Archbishop Ramsay which has been
a gift to Churches, missions, nations, and leaders.
Please find the attached proposal on the matter.
[D]
Conclusion
It
is my prayer that we all will begin to map out biblically
and historically (in our respective ministry-settings)
the Apostolic foundation, events, and directions which
God has graciously bestowed on His work in the UK and
of which we are a part and that this will help us to
find/establish what He has graciously handed over to
us, with regards to His honour, standards and mission.
Many thanks. I look forward to seeing you on the 12th
June. May God continue to Bless you.
Yours
in Christ,
Bishop Henry Paul Kontor
Chair
A
Proposal (DRAFT)
Archbishop Ramsay Fellowship of Ministers
who make a commitment to an annual event (as)
International Shiloh Anniversary, Achievement, and Convocation
(ISAAC)
1]
Introduction
We
are convinced of the Lord that there has to be a fellowship
among ministers who have fed from the ministry of Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay. We are also further convinced by the
Grace of God that there has to be an annual event to
honour the life and ministry of Archbishop Malachi Ramsay.
| Some
of the spiritual sons and daughters of Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay include: |
 |
|
 |
|
Pastor
Alex Duah,
Apostolic Leader, Christ The Livingstone
Ministry, London
|
|
Mrs
Gifty Duah,
Associate Pastor, Christ The Livingstone
Ministry, London
|
|
| |
2]
Particular References
We
are respectfully asking that the fellowship and the
annual event give serious regard to the following references:
2A) Testimony
That
the Shiloh United Apostolic Church Worldwide under Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay birthed and impacted so many Churches,
Church Ministers, and individuals in different places
in the UK, the Caribbean, Africa, and the United States
of America. Many of the Church Ministers impacted by
the leadership and ministry of Archbishop Ramsay are
in the UK, serving faithfully in diverse settings in
the Lord's work. Many of the overseas Churches and leaderships
he birthed or impacted are growing strongly. This is
a testimony worthy of praise to God. It is also a testimony
that spiritually enriches the work we do in our various
settings.
2B)
Fellowship
Many
of these Churches, Church ministers and individuals
desire to see the off-spring ministries and various
aspects of Archbishop Ramsay's work come together and
acknowledge the foundation that God has given. We also
desire to come together to support each other in refreshing
fellowship, as we express the richness of our various
forms of ministry.
2C) Honour
We
seek to bring this Fellowship together, to honour Jesus
Christ the Lord who gave His precious salvation to Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay and poured an immense grace into his
life as a servant of God.
2D)
Opportunity to Celebrate a Special Act of God
Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay was the first Pentecostal Archbishop
in the UK. His seat was in Croydon. During the term
of his archbishopric, Bishop Wilfred Wood became the
first black Anglican Bishop in the UK. His seat was
also in Croydon. The Lord beautifully placed these two
people together in the same locality, in order to make
a public statement and bring to the forefront of public
notice the high calling of God on the new communities
He was bringing from other places around the world.
We have no doubt that we are witnessing today in the
UK, effective Church ministries under leadership from
the new communities. We must seriously remember this
wonderful act of God in a prophetic sense, and capture
the scope and potential that this act of God contains.
For many Church leaders, this act of God gives a sense
of an historic beginning. It also gives a pointer and
possibly a spiritual fountain or watershed for what
lies ahead the future.
3]
Action
We
are asking Churches, Church leaders, and individuals
who have been honoured, graced, supported, impacted,
or spiritually refreshed by the ministry of Archbishop
Malachi Ramsay to co-operate and participate. We are
praying with the aim that we can endorse these proposals
- and set out a way to carry them forward.
