Urban Studies


Aim:
To help students understand the history and needs of the Urban Community.

Objective
At the end of the module students will:
* have a biblical and theological perspective of urbanisation:
* understand the role of the church in Urban communities.
* be able to evaluate different theories of urbanisation.

Content:
Traditional and current perspective on urbanisation. The role of the church in transforming the urban community through personal change and social action. The role of the church in creating human and material resources for local enterprise development. The urban historical phases, and contemporary church involvement's at micro and macro levels. A biblical and theological understanding of urbanisation. The 'Faith in the City' report and the interface between church and community.
