The
Landscape
|
 |
| |
|
|
The
world we live in is fast urbanising;
and the population of each city
is fast becoming multi-national
and global. Formerly, the cities
lived in the nations. Now the
nations live in the cities.
To
think local, is also to think
both multi-national and global.
In
a multi-national and market-driven
environment, poverty is often
seen as a sub-culture, but not
necessary an issue of injustice.
|
|
Under this position, poverty reduction
schemes are designed primarily to
deal with the causalities of the market,
and not necessarily to promote a common
economic development foundation for
everyone.
Programmes
for sustainable development and capital
growth that also aim at poverty alleviation/reduction
in particular contexts may have to
consider seriously these considerations.
We live in both modern and post-modern
world, and we work in a world that
is both local and multi-national.
The environment also is largely market-driven.
These
underpin the tasks and the depths
of our Consultations.
In general, our Consultations will
be
- identifying
practical tools for sustainable
development, which are efficient
within cultures but also meet
current market realities
- challenging
ground-level practitioners from
the Faith, Education, and
Development sectors to
achieve sustainable development
programmes in market-driven situations.

The Processes and Schedule for the London
Spiritual Retreat & Experience
[A]
This exercise begins as a reflective-activity
on one's own dreams and calling. It proceeds to
a formidable self-discovery of Christ in a new
way. From here, a participant is expected to lay
a positive hold on the higher calling of God in
Christ Jesus - and experience a personal refreshing
for an effective ministry.
[B]
A report of the experience indicating a future
pathway into a higher calling will be expected
from participants on their return.
[C]
For purposes of self-examination, each participant
will work on his/her future pathway with convincing
references to the Incarnate Christ, He/She will
also produce a spiritual check-list or an evaluation
outline.
[D]
Two study areas will support the experience: (a)
Mediterranean Christological Images (b) The Christ
Glorifies and the Church today. Guiding notes
will be given to all participants. Further assistance
will be given to those who make specific requests
on a specific subject.
Reason for this Spiritual Exercise:
The
Exercise exists to support individuals to foot
their personal visions or aspirations with regards
to God's High Calling on the person - through
the Incarnate and Glorified Christ. A participant
may also
use the exercise to strengthen his/her spiritual
competencies.
In
the last 20 years, Churches have majored on personal
salvation, faith-based victorious life, holistic
ministry, and finally to community impact. The
Spirit of Christ is pointing to the need for personal
refreshing in order to stay effective.
Without
question, the global fullness of Christ is yet
to be experienced. For some, this is the higher
calling!!
London
has become a centre of the three major Faiths
that claim the heritage of Abraham. God called
Abraham at a point in his life to a cosmic experience
of Christ. God's higher calling in Christ as well
as the blessedness of nations were set on that
specific heritage.
London
has been one of the spiritually rich environments
in Europe. St Paul is London's patron saint.
St Paul always sought to discover the cosmic image
of the Incarnate and Glorified Christ in the city.
This spiritual refreshing exercise is dedicated
to St. Paul.
