Professional Development Programmes
in 2007/08


1) Short Term Courses (normally of 6-week duration)

 

General thrust

The courses aim to bring together Faith, Education, and Development for the fruitful transformation of society.

Modules

Corporate Spirituality, Grant Seeking Foundations, and Business Management in Community Development Practice.

The Faith Sector, Transparent Civic Roles, Partnership Fostering, and Employment Generation/Sustainability in Community Development Practice.

Christian Social Compassion and International Development in Community Development Practice.

Courses' Discipline

The courses are disciplined in the belief that while aspects of economic and social regeneration may be invigorated by partners, agencies, and governments' offices, the long-term vision must be upheld and sustained by members of the localities or the regions.

Participation Requirements

  • Involvement with a Project
  • Computer literacy
  • Research skills
  • Completion of Interest Form
  • £500 tuition fee payment or as agreed
  • Written confirmation of your Enrolment

Note:
(i) Applicants without computing or research skills will have to undertake additional tuition in those skills, which might attract additional costs.

(ii) If you cannot complete and send the Interest Form electronically, you may e-mail icdsabcd@aol.com for an application form that can be completed manually.

(iii) Matured students can study all the three short courses (or any of our three short courses) in addition to a submission of a 10,000 word thesis on an approved topic, as a full year study and for an award of an executive certificate/diploma in international community development from the Institute.

2) International Consultations and Conferences


General thrust

The exercises aim to bring together the creative, the delivery, and the management sectors within the local, national, and international development fields to generate resources, capacity, direction, and efficiency.

Some of the Topics/Foci are as follows:
  • Institutional Development, Capital Growth, and Emerging Private Sector Education Markets.

  • Social Capital, Poverty Reduction, and Corporate Responsibility (Part 2)

  • Mission Leaders, Philanthropic Investments, and Faith Foundation for Poverty Alleviation

  • International Education and Technology Applications - Opening the Horizons of the Market

  • Royal Houses, Educational Promotions, and Development Patrons

  • International Fraternity and the Futures of International Co-operation

  • International Exchange Programmes and New Investment Markets

  • The Services Sector and International Trade

Please Note: Dates may slightly change if contingencies happen around a particular time. Applicants will be notified in time, if any date changes.


Participation Requirements (Basic)

  • Involvement with a Project
  • Completion of Interest Form
  • Between £250 and £500 registration fee payment or as agreed
  • Written confirmation of your registration as a Participant

(ii) For practising social entrepreneurs, directors of businesses, and senior or mid-level management staff of agencies or statutory bodies: You can participate in three of our International Consultations, and with an additional 10,000 word thesis on an approved topic, to receive an award of an executive certificate/diploma in international community development from the Institute.

 

3) ICDS Churches

ICDS Churches exist to support the work of the Institute in the following ways:

  • inculcating spiritual depths into the work of the Institute, and grow the spiritual capacity necessary for the tasks (of the Institute) particularly in urban areas

  • establishing the spiritual foundations which are achieved, in the outreach work of the Institute

  • applying the celebration of particular Christian event to highlight particular foundations of community development

  • supporting students and faculty in their work

  • running significant annual events which provide positive environments for the AGM and other occasions in the life of the Institute

The recognition as an ICDS Church is given to congregations at the heart of community ministry and leadership development.

The benefits of being an ICDS Church has to be negotiated with the leadership of the Institute in the UK.
